John Roberts Weekend 2008
Garter Lane Arts Centre 22a, O' Connell Street, Waterford, Waterford
This event celebrates the life and times of the renowned architect John Roberts. This man was a genius of the Georgian period in the mid-18th century, designing and building both cathedrals, the city hall as well as several other buildings in Waterford. There are tours of his buildings being held over the weekend, in addition to some concerts, exhibitions and other easy going events that eschew any type of formal lectures....

The First Lafacadio Hearn Colloquium 2008

Lafacadio Hearn was an incredible institution in Japan during the turn of the last century. During his time there he became a gateway between the Japan he had adopted as his home and the west from whence he came. Of Irish descent, the Tramore Lafcadio Hearn Society wished to commemorate him and his contributions in the beautifully restored Old Coast Guard Station in Tramore. TITLED/UNTITLED, the current exhibition at Lismore Castle, Co Waterford, Ireland is an unusual collaborative exhibition bringing together work from the Devonshire Collection and Rubell Family Collection based in Miami; works from the Devonshire Collection having been selected by the Rubell Family, while pieces from the Rubell Collection were selected by William and Laura Burlington.
